I am a Senior District Judge of the State of Texas, which means that I am retired with more than 20 years service, but continue to sit regularly by assignment. I was an elected judge from 1980 through 1994, and have served as a Visiting Judge since 1995. I was licensed to practice law in 1968, Board Certified in Criminal Law in 1975, and wrote in 1998 (and for 9 years updated annually) Texas Courtroom Criminal Evidence, published by Lexis Publishing. From 1979 to 1999 I taught criminal law, criminal procedure and trial advocacy as an adjunct professor at St. Mary's University School of Law.

 The Colyandro, Delay and Ellis Cases

On St. Patrick's Day, by a 3-2 vote, the Third Court of Appeals upheld its original holding. The Sate has idnicated it seems likely that one or both sides will seek review from the Court of Criminal Appeals. More as things develop.
